BRT type shim, also called support ring, is an auxiliary anti-extrusion sealing accessory used together with O-rings, piston rod seals and other main hydraulic seals. Mounted beside the primary seal, the BRT support ring fills the clearance between metal mating parts. It prevents the soft elastomer seal from being squeezed into the hardware gap under high hydraulic pressure, avoiding extrusion damage, seal tearing and premature breakdown of the sealing set.
